EU Projects Fair “EU and Serbia in action” held in Zrenjanin

EU Projects Fair “EU and Serbia in action”, where the most important current projects in Vojvodina funded by the European Union were presented, was held today in Zrenjanin, together with the traditional manifestation “European village”.

At the EU Projects Fair, more than 30 projects were presented, in the realization which the European Union is currently actively participating, and the value of which is several hundreds of millions of Euros. The Fair was marked by the celebration of ten years of membership in the European Union, celebrated by Romania this year with which Serbia has excellent cooperation through projects of cross-border cooperation. This is why this year one of the organisers of the EU Projects Fair, apart from the Delegation of the EU in Serbia, Office for EU Integration in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the and City of Zrenjanin was also the Embassy of the Republic of Romania.

The EU Projects Fair “EU and Serbia in action” and the manifestation “European village” was jointly opened by Jadranka Joksimović, Minister without portfolio in charge of European Integration, Oscar Benedict, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia, Čedomir Janjić, the Mayor of Zrenjanin and Milan Čežek from the Fund for European Affairs of AP Vojvodina.

The visitors of the Fair had the chance to see numerous projects of cross-border cooperation with Romania which are successfully managed by the Office for EU Integration of the Government of RS, and which are related to cooperation in the fields of tourism, preventing floods, and empowering entrepreneurs from Banat municipalities. Ministry of Culture and Information presented their project of rehabilitating the monastery and fortress in Bač and the construction of the so-called “diffusion museum” in this municipality, which is conducted with the support of the EU. Visitors were also enabled to get familiar with numerous projects from the sphere of social inclusion, especially support to pre-school children, the Roma population, refugees and displaced persons.

Creative Europe Desk Serbia presented the success of Serbia so far in participating in the Creative Europe programme at the Culture stand. The Fair was an opportunity for all interested cultural and programme.

We hope the number of applications from Zrenjanin in the Creative Europe programme will increase in the following years and that we will have the first successful stories from this city.
