On the occasion of the overtaking of presidency over the Council of Europe by the Republic of Austria and the commitment to European values promoted by the Arad County, and also the cultural and historical heritage the county inherited from the Habsburg Monarchy, on 27th March in Arad, in cooperation with the Institute of European Regions a conference was held entitled “Via Habsburg” gathering numerous regional decision makers and cultural actors.
As it was emphasised during the conference, the project “Via Habsburg” is one of the cultural routes of the Council of Europe and during the discussions in three panels it was concluded that East and Southeast Europe lack a similar cultural route, where the Habsburg Monarchy shaped historical development.
Representatives of the Antenna of the Culture Desk Creative Europe Serbia Mina Radmilović Pjevac and Dragana Srećkov attended the conference. Coordinator of the Antenna of the Culture Desk Creative Europe Mina Radmilović Pjevac presented the work of the Culture Desk and the Antenna Desk Creative Europe at the conference, as well as past activities and possibilities for funding from the Creative Europe programme, results achieved by institutions and organisations from the Republic of Serbia within the competitions of the Creative Europe programme, and also possibilities of funding for cultural institutions from the programme of cross-border cooperation.
The conference was attended by the representative of the Provincial government, Assistant of the Provincial Secretary for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government Nebojša Drakulić, President of the Institute of European regions, Dr Franz Schausberger, Reporter of the Committee of the Regions, Stefano Dominioni, Director of the Institute for Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, Leyla Strobl, Austrian Committee “Blue Shield” and the President and Manager of Via Habsburg Elisabeth Udolf- Strobl.
