Art Brut Serbia works on improving independent anti-academic arts, as well as, on integrating the arts of socially marginalised groups and individuals into the system of artistic value.
Art Brut Serbia is a part of the European Outsider Art Association and represents a continuity, the only in the region, of the artistic movement Art Brut (Fr. Raw Art) defined by Jean Dubuffet immediately after the Second World War in the circumstances of complete collapse of civilisation values.
Art Brut Serbia Association is officially registered from February, 2014. even though it is active since 2001. as an informal group comprised of painters, sculptors, psychologists, art historians etc.
Art Brut Serbia:
1. Brings together and promotes art brut artists;
2. Collects, processes and promotes the arts and creativity of socially marginalised groups and individuals, with particular focus on persons with mental disorders, refugees and prisoners;
3. Organises artistic performances, public discussions, public lectures, exhibitions and workshops aiming at opening questions about art brut and creativity of socially marginalised groups and individuals;
4. Promotes, explores, discusses the history and contemporary state of Art Brut, by publishing articles, books and other publications on art brut arts, as well as, by organising experts to work on scientific research projects.
